The HeavyTrackerz are a grime production duo whose work you’ve definitely heard, whether on Meridian Dan’s “German Whip” or Stormzy’s “Standard.” This past week on August 25, they released their own debut album Odyssey, which included “Control,” a serious posse cut with JME, P Money, and Donae’o. The song itself is anthemic and soaring, and in the black and white video its anti-establishment message feels even more vital, as anonymous young people are shown facing off with riot police in slow motion.
“‘Control’ is probably the track that best captures the album’s essence,” HeavyTrackerz explained in an email to The FADER. “We always wanted JME on the album — he came back with a crazy hook and two verses within 24 hours. We then sent the track to P Money, who instantly came back with one of our favourite verses on the album. Donae’o jazzed up the whole track just by jamming on it.” Watch the video above, and get the record here.
